Hey all!
As the year slowly comes to a close here in the UK, and festivities begin to ramp up, I wanted to take the time to share with you a little something that I’ve been working on recently; an original cover of the Christmas classic Jingle Bells! Only, this version is called Jayngle Bells! (Do you see what I did there? 😁)
The idea here was to create a fun interpretation of this song that harked back to my early years as a guitar player. Specifically, I wanted to make use of some influences that I’ve never really written music with before.
Pop punk, rock and instrumental/shred genres of guitar music were massively important to me as a youth. They didn’t just inspire me as a guitarist, but inspired me as a person, too. They inspired my identity, and gave me a real sense of belonging. Until now, I haven’t really paid any respect to that!
The coincidence is that these genres typically have high energy, fun and impactful feelings within the music they represent. Perfect for a Christmas cover!
