On the back of my last post focussing on musicians making the most out of a challenging situation, I thought I’d share another example of the amazing things that can happen when like minds collaborate and support each other.

If there is one thing that I’m really enjoying (I use this word loosely) about the COVID situation we find ourselves in, it is experiencing the creativity between certain musicians, who are harnessing the opportunity to work together and make amazing music. Would these collaborations have ever happened without COVID? Who knows…

If you are new to Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, you have to check out his solo album ‘9.11’, and more recently his work with The Son’s Of Apollo (Featuring Mike Portnoy on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards, Billy Sheehan on bass and Jeff Scott Soto on vocals). Essential listening for Marco Sfogli would be James LaBrie’s album ‘Impermenant Resonance’ (particularly the song Agony), and Sfogli’s solo records ‘There’s Hope’, ‘ReMarcoble’ and ‘Homeland’. For Alex Argento, an all time favourite of mine is his solo album, ‘Ego’. Both Sfogli and Argento have played in the band IceFish (along with drummer Virgil Donati and bassist/vocalist Andrea Casali), which is a band you just HAVE to hear.

Check these guys out, performing the “Planetary Lockdown” jam!
